As part of our commitment to the ongoing development of the North Baffin communities, Baffinland is committed to providing education and training opportunities to local residents.
Baffinland funds and awards scholarships on an annual basis for North Baffin Inuit who are Nunavut Land Claims Beneficiaries and pursuing a post-secondary education. The study area of scholarship recipients evolves every year to reflect the emerging needs and trends of the extractive industry in the north.

Training and Work Readiness
Baffinland is focused on Inuit employment and advancement. Through our Work Readiness program, we help prepare our Inuit candidates for what it’s like to work at Baffinland on a remote, fly-in-fly-out, two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off rotation.
For our current Inuit employees, our specialized training programs helps our Inuit employees advance within our organization. Programs include our supervisory and management training, and Courageous Leadership health and safety training.
Apprenticeships with Baffinland
We believe in the value of opportunities created through apprenticeship programs. Working closely with our partners, including Arctic College, our apprenticeship program helps approved-candidates experience what it’s like to work at Baffinland.
The program also outlines the courses required to be certified in specific skilled-trades.
