Our leadership team has amassed specialty experience on northern mining developments, from community consultation and permitting, through to operation. Many of the projects they have contributed to have raised standards in safety, environmental monitoring, and social impact, improving economies both locally and nationally.
Brian Penney, Chief Executive Officer
Brian Penney is our chief executive officer. Mr. Penney has over 25 years’ experience in the mining industry, including 20 years of technical leadership roles in the iron industry.Prior to joining Baffinland, Mr. Penney was the chief operating officer of Alderon Iron Ore. He also worked as president and chief executive officer of Ridgemont Iron Ore and worked for the Iron Ore Company of Canada for 15 years. He has a B.Eng. (metallurgical engineering) from the Technical University of Nova Scotia.
Stephanie Anderson, Chief Financial Officer
Stephanie Anderson is our Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Baffinland, Ms. Anderson was the executive vice president and chief financial officer for Dundee Precious Metals Inc. Prior to that, she spent 19 years with Inco Limited (now Vale). She holds a B.Sc. (geology) from the University of New Brunswick and an M.B.A. from the University of Toronto.
Todd Burlingame, Vice President of Sustainable Development
Todd Burlingame is our vice president, sustainable development. He has over twenty-five years’ experience working on largescale development project in Northern Canada and working with local communities. Mr. Burlingame has a B.Sc. (geology) from the University of British Columbia.
Tim Butler, Vice President of Human Resources
Tim Butler is our vice president, human resources. In his over 25 years of experience, he has worked with some of the world’s largest mining companies including Barrick Gold and BHP Billiton. Mr. Butler has a BA (economics), a B.Comm. from Memorial University and a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources from Royal Roads University.
Sylvain Proulx, Chief Operating Officer
Sylvain Proulx is our chief operating officer, providing oversight and management to the Mary River Mine and Milne Port site operations and activities. He has over 20 years of leadership experience and has led major reliability and continuous improvement initiatives for resource companies in Canada. He has a B.Eng. (mechanical engineering) from the Université Laval.
